Caste by Isabel Wilkerson is one of the most impactful books that a reader can pick up in their lifetime. It moves beyond the concept of race to reveal an underlying “invisible” architecture of human ranking that has shaped America’s history and current events, expertly drawing parallels between the caste systems of Nazi Germany, India, and the United States. It forces a look at the “hidden, hard facts” of social structures, which will trigger intense, deeply meaningful, and, at times, difficult conversations.
