Kiki Garcia published her first book when she was 9 years old. She’s going to come read it to us on Saturday, May 10.
A proud member of the Migizi (Bald Eagle) Clan, Kiki wrote Fishing by Torchlight, which was published earlier this year. She has recently returned from a multi-city book tour where she met with fans delighted by her wonderful storytelling: this book is a fictional account of friends going spearfishing as an exercise of their treaty rights. Kiki reminisces fondly of spearfishing with her father, and views the story as a celebration of her heritage and our shared national history. She says of the story: “I always love sharing stories because sometimes, they have a deeper meaning and that deeper meaning can go a long way.”
There’s no better way to cap off a wonderful Children’s Book Week than with a sensational children’s book, written by a very young author.
